A wedding in the sky on the London Eye
What could be a more exciting venue for a wedding than the London Eye? I was really amazed to discover that you can actually get married on this premier London attraction, which is an integral part of the London skyline. What could be more exciting than exchanging your vows 135 metres up in the air, above the famous and beautiful city of London, with a view out over the glittering Thames?
So what happens? The wedding party enter their own private capsule of the Eye, which will be decked out with flowers, and the civil ceremony will be conducted by Lambeth Registry office, with the actual pronouncement that you are married taking place at the very top. Then on the way down, it’s time to celebrate with chilled Laurent-Perrier champagne and canapes.
Some of the packages on offer also include stays at the nearby five-star Marriott County Hall Hotel with spa treatments and three course meals.
Many couples marrying on the London Eye follow it up with a reception on a boat going up the Thames – what could be a nicer way of enjoying your reception than sipping champagne as you watch all those magnificent London views roll by?
The capsule can take up to twenty-five guests, and the whole journey round the wheel takes thirty minutes. Do check out beforehand though that none of your guests has a fear of heights! If all your guests have a sense of adventure and fun, they will really enjoy this novel ceremony.
