The Crowning Touch For Your Wedding Day
The crowning touch for your wedding day is the hairstyle you choose. You will look at the wedding pictures taken for years to come, share them with your children and grandchildren and the photo album will become a cherished family heirloom.
So why risk choosing a horrible hairstyle?
Your wedding hairstyle is as important as the dress itself. All too often, the decision on the hairstyle is made at the last minute, almost as an after thought. The time to think about your hairstyle is when you begin to look at dresses. After all, if you know you want a formal up do, would you want to pair it with a casual wedding dress? Probably not. Just as you would not want a very casual “tussled” look with a formal, “Cinderella” type gown.
Keep in mind also, that you do not want to be uncomfortable during the ceremony and reception. For this reason, choose a style that is “fancier” perhaps than your normal style, but will still feel comfortable on you for the entire event.
Many of today’s brides are opting for looser, longer locks. Make sure your hair is healthy and shiny on your special day! You can have the beautiful curls and waves and accent it with a tiara, for a more formal approach, or a beautiful rhinestone, flower or butterfly clips and barrettes for a more relaxed style.
About a week before the wedding, have your stylist do a run through of the style you want. This is the time to do any coloring of your hair, as well. It gives the color time to settle in, as well as time to fix any “mistakes”. Be sure to bring your hair accessories and veil or tiara so your stylist can figure out the best way to work with it. While you want to be flexible, don’t let your stylist get carried away. Find and decide on a look that works best for you, your hair, and the style of your dress. It helps to bring in a photo of the dress for your stylist to review – preferably one of you in it.
Don’t forget the bridesmaids, too! Many brides, especially when having a very formal ceremony, want all of their bridesmaids to wear the same style. While this might be nice in theory, if one has locks to rival Rapunzel, and one has a pixie haircut, it just is not going to happen. Rather, find a common ground for them, such as wearing the same hair accessories.
But the single most important thing on this most special of days – make sure you love the style you wear! Make sure it signifies your personality and style of wedding. Make sure, that when you look back at the cherished photos, that you’ll smile, and still be in love with the hairstyle!
